Fort Worth police officer seriously hurt in car crash

An on-duty Fort Worth Police officer is in serious condition following a crash that occurred early Friday.

According to Fort Worth Police, the officer was traveling northbound on the Interstate 35W toll road entrance ramp near downtown when the collision occurred around 7:30 a.m.

The officer sustained serious injuries in the crash and was promptly transported to the hospital. As of Friday afternoon, the department reported that the officer’s condition was improving.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the crash or whether there were any other injuries reported. The incident is currently under investigation by the department’s traffic unit, and additional information is anticipated to be provided at a later time.

The department noted that the officer has been serving with the Fort Worth Police Department for nine years and is presently assigned to the Crime Scene Unit.
