1 killed, 1 injured in house explosion in Sherman

A home explosion in Sherman, Texas on Sunday night resulted in one fatality and one person injured.

Firefighters were dispatched to a residence on Sistrunk Street shortly before 8:30 p.m., as reported by KTEN News. They managed to extinguish the flames within 30 minutes.

According to officials from the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, the home collapsed onto a woman who had to be airlifted to a hospital in Plano. First responders had to remove layers of the house’s roof to extricate her from the debris.

The homeowner’s son identified his father, James Bateman, as the individual who perished in the explosion.

As of now, the cause of the explosion remains unknown.
