6 injured after police chase ends in Arlington

Two individuals have been apprehended by Arlington police following a car believed to be implicated in a gunfire exchange that evaded a traffic stop on Thursday night.

At approximately 6:10 p.m. on Thursday, law enforcement responded to reports of shots fired in the 1900 block of Chalice Road.

Upon arrival, officers interviewed multiple witnesses who reported observing a group of teenagers engaged in a confrontation, suspecting that one of them had discharged a firearm. Following the gunshot, the group dispersed.

Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported at the scene.

Authorities received a description of the suspect’s vehicle, a 2001 Infiniti QX4, which fled the scene. Around 9:20 p.m., police located the vehicle on Pioneer Parkway.

Despite officers’ attempts to initiate a traffic stop, the driver chose to flee instead. Due to the initial call’s violent nature, law enforcement engaged in pursuit.

The vehicle traveled westbound along Pioneer Parkway at a high speed, eventually running a red light at South Cooper Street and colliding with two other vehicles, a 2013 Toyota Prius and a 2013 Toyota Highlander, at the intersection.

Immediately following the collision, the driver of the Infiniti, identified as 32-year-old Roberto Rodriguez, attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended by authorities. Rodriguez sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Five other individuals involved in the crash were also taken to the hospital:
– Three passengers in the Infiniti: a 25-year-old female, a teenage male, and a teenage female
– The 18-year-old female driver of the Highlander
– A 23-year-old female passenger in the Prius

Thankfully, their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police suspect that the teenage male passenger in the Infiniti was implicated in the earlier shooting incident on Chalice Road. Once medically cleared, he will face charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Upon his medical clearance, Rodriguez will be charged with evading and causing serious bodily injury, as well as abandoning/endangering a child.

Law enforcement confirmed the recovery of a firearm from inside the Infiniti.
