Deputies shoot, kill an allegedly armed teen while recovering stolen car in NW Harris Co., HCSO says

A teenage boy has died following an officer-involved shooting in northeast Harris County on Saturday afternoon, as confirmed by Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

Authorities responded to a call regarding the possible discovery of a stolen vehicle at the 9800 block of Fleming Springs Drive earlier that morning.

Upon their arrival, deputies knocked on the door of a residence, and an individual matching the description of the vehicle theft suspect fled, according to officials.

Deputies located the individual near Cascade House Drive and identified him as a teenage boy. Allegedly, the teen failed to comply with commands and brandished a firearm. Subsequently, two deputies discharged their weapons, resulting in the teen’s death at the scene, as reported by HCSO.

There were no injuries reported among the deputies, although one deputy was transported to a hospital for precautionary measures.

Authorities have yet to determine whether the teenager returned fire or the number of shots fired by the deputies.

The deputies involved in the shooting, identified as a male with 5 years of service and a female with 9 years of service, will be subject to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office policy, which mandates the release of body camera footage within 45 days.

This incident marks the third shooting involving law enforcement in the past three days. On Friday, a suspect was killed after exchanging gunfire with an HPD officer responding to a domestic dispute near downtown Houston. Similarly, on Thursday, a suspect possibly linked to several robberies in the area was fatally shot in a shootout with an HPD officer in the city’s Second Ward.
