150 Japanese cherry trees to join 350,000 blooming tulips at Dallas Blooms

Dallas Blooms, the most extensive annual floral festival in the southwest, returns for its 39th edition at the Dallas Arboretum, boasting hundreds of thousands of tulips and 150 breathtaking Japanese cherry trees.

Featuring over 500,000 spring-blooming flowers from a diverse array of more than 120 varieties, including an impressive 350,000 tulips, Dallas Blooms promises a vibrant spectacle. Within the upcoming week, visitors can expect the Japanese cherry trees to burst into full bloom.

According to the arboretum, the optimal time to visit is within the next week to witness the cherry trees and tulips in all their glory, marking the official arrival of spring in the garden.

The arboretum highlights that cherry blossom season in Japan, known as Hanami, is celebrated with fervor. During this period, both day and night parties are held beneath the Sakura (cherry blossom trees) to commemorate the yearly event and the transient beauty of life.

Tracing its origins back to the Heian Period (794-1185), Hanami was characterized by flower-viewing gatherings hosted by the Imperial Court in Kyoto under the blooming cherry trees. Poets lauded the flowers as symbols of life’s fleeting yet exquisite nature.

Tickets, ranging from $13 to $22, are essential for entry and can be conveniently purchased online at www.dallasarboretum.org or by phone at 214-515-6615. Parking is available for $12 when purchased online or $15 at the gate. For the latest updates, visitors are encouraged to visit www.dallasarboretum.org/blooms.
