Sherman superintendent suspended amid investigation into ‘Oklahoma!’ casting move

Sherman schools Superintendent Tyson Bennett has been placed on paid suspension, a move made in the midst of a third-party investigation concerning the removal of a transgender student from their role in the high school’s production of Oklahoma!

The decision to suspend Bennett was made by Sherman trustees following over three hours of closed-door deliberations on Friday.

While the school board did not reveal details about the ongoing external investigation or its findings, it has conducted multiple private meetings regarding the incident surrounding the musical.

After the vote, Bennett exited without engaging with reporters, while school board members opted not to provide comments.
