Sudden death of 7-year-old girl sparks investigation by Dallas Police

The Dallas Police Department is probing the sudden passing of a young girl who tragically lost her life just days before her birthday.

As per police reports, officers were dispatched to a residence located in the 700 block of Goldwood Drive at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, following a service call.

Upon arrival at the residence, authorities discovered 7-year-old Royalty Rose Martinez unresponsive. Dallas Fire-Rescue personnel were summoned to the scene in an attempt to revive the child, but sadly, she was pronounced deceased.

Martinez’s father informed NBC 5 that his daughter had been hospitalized at a children’s hospital two days earlier due to strep throat. He stated that subsequently, she received antibiotics at urgent care. However, tragically, two days later, the young girl passed away.

Dallas Police have classified the incident as an unexplained death. The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office recorded the child’s time of death at 3:17 p.m., mere minutes prior to law enforcement’s arrival at the residence. The manner of her death remains pending, as indicated by the coroner’s report.

In a gesture of support, loved ones and members of the community organized a benefit event on Sunday, March 17, to assist with Royalty’s funeral expenses. The event, held at 3116 Partridge Ct in Grand Prairie, commenced at noon and featured BBQ brisket sandwiches, chips, and drinks, with sales continuing until all items were sold out.
