Wife charged in husband’s shooting death after leaving Greater Uptown apt. with 2 kids, docs show

In Houston, Texas, court documents allege that a woman, Keaiirra Shavoiyae Chidozie, 28, shot her husband multiple times during a dispute in their apartment in west Houston on Thursday evening.

Chidozie was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on Friday following the incident at 2634 Yorktown Street, to which officers from the Houston Police Department responded at approximately 7:35 p.m. They discovered a 26-year-old man with gunshot wounds in the bedroom.

According to court records, the husband sustained gunshot wounds to the torso, arm, and chest, with the injuries described as critical. He was promptly transported to the hospital for treatment.

Detectives indicated that the altercation between Chidozie and her husband intensified, leading to the shooting. Allegedly, the husband pursued Chidozie into the bedroom, where the argument persisted before she allegedly resorted to firing multiple shots, purportedly out of concern for her safety.

Chidozie and the couple’s two children were located in a parking lot by police, where she was subsequently apprehended.

The children are currently under the care of a family member, as stated by law enforcement.
