Berkner HS student, another 18-year-old killed in Dallas double homicide

Police in Dallas are on the hunt for suspects following a tragic shooting incident that claimed the lives of two young men, including a high school student, outside a business in a Dallas neighborhood on Friday night.

According to the Dallas Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 3800 block of Dixon Avenue after receiving reports of a shooting at the Uncle Lee Grocery Food Market around 9:20 p.m.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered 18-year-old Camren Stacy lying on the ground outside a vehicle, with 18-year-old Kamari Smith-Capps found in the driver’s seat. Both victims had sustained gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives, based on their preliminary investigation, determined that Stacy and Smith-Capps were shot while seated in the vehicle, with the suspects fleeing on foot down Dixon Avenue.

The Richardson Independent School District confirmed that Stacy was a student at Berkner High School, while Smith-Capps was a former student. Berkner High School Principal Kristy Cage extended condolences to the families and announced support services for grieving students.

Details about the suspects’ description were not disclosed by the police department.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Jacob White.
