Lone Star Park holds National Anthem auditions for 2024 racing season

On Monday, Lone Star Park hosted its annual National Anthem auditions at the Grand Prairie racetrack.

Aspiring soloists, duets, and instrumentalists took their turns in front of the microphone positioned near the winner’s circle while NBC 5 photojournalist Kevin Stewart captured the auditions.

Participants were required to memorize the lyrics of “The Star-Spangled Banner” prior to the audition and perform it a cappella within a two-minute time limit.

Recorded performances will undergo evaluation and judgment by Lone Star Park officials at a later stage.

By April 5, all singers will receive notification via email regarding their selection for performance. Each chosen performer will be granted four reserved seats for their designated performance date.

The 2024 Thoroughbred Racing Season at Lone Star Park is scheduled to commence on April 18 and will run until July 14, or until the Fall Meeting of Champions.
