Man and 16-year-old passenger injured while driving after suspect opens fire in SE Houston, HPD says

Authorities in Houston, Texas, are seeking to identify the individual responsible for shooting a teenager and a man on Friday evening in southeast Houston.

The incident occurred around 10 p.m. in the 8500 block of Broadway. According to Lt. Riley of the Houston Police Department (HPD), the man and the 16-year-old were traveling in an unspecified direction when an assailant approached them and fired multiple shots into their vehicle, striking both victims.

As a result of the gunfire, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer through an intersection and collide with a tree. Although the teenager initially fled the scene, they later returned.

Emergency medical personnel administered life-saving measures to the man, who was subsequently transported to Ben Taub Hospital. Unfortunately, HPD has indicated that the man’s injuries are grave, and he is not expected to survive. Meanwhile, the teenager was transported to the hospital in stable condition.

The exact relationship between the man and the teenager remains unclear, and authorities have reported no witnesses or suspect description at this time.
