7-year-old boy gains access to handgun and shoots himself in foot, Harris Co. Pct. 4 deputies say

In northwest Harris County, a 7-year-old boy is anticipated to make a full recovery after accidentally shooting himself in the foot with a handgun on Tuesday, according to constable deputies.

Responding to the incident in the 21200 block of Shadow River in the Springbrook neighborhood near T.C. Jester Boulevard, investigators from Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman’s Office swiftly arrived at the scene.

The child was promptly transported to Texas Children’s Hospital in The Woodlands, where he underwent a medical procedure, as reported by the constable’s office.

Details regarding how the boy gained access to the firearm and whether adults were present at the time of the incident were not disclosed by authorities.

The constable’s office has indicated that potential criminal charges may be pursued in connection with the incident.
