Harris Co. Precinct 4 deputy constable off duty when he allegedly pulled gun after crash: Records

A Harris County Precinct 4 deputy constable, Arturo Martinez, 27, faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following an incident involving a minor parking lot collision.

The altercation occurred on the 5000 block of West Richey Road, where Martinez, off-duty and accompanied by his wife in his personal vehicle, was reportedly involved in a crash with another vehicle in a restaurant parking lot. Allegedly, Martinez pursued the other driver and confronted him at gunpoint.

In addition to the aggravated assault charge, Martinez also faces two misdemeanors: DWI and drug possession. Authorities discovered a small amount of individually packaged marijuana in his trunk.

Upon Martinez’s arrest, his supervisor at Constable Mark Herman’s Office was informed. Martinez’s tenure with Precinct 4 was initially stated as six years, but a report from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement revealed he had only been employed for three months, starting from January 17, 2024.

Despite requests for comment, the department has not provided any response.
