Man dies weeks after wife allegedly shoots him during argument at Galleria-area apartment: police

In the Galleria area of Houston, Texas, a man has tragically passed away less than a month after being shot multiple times by his wife at their apartment. The incident, which occurred on March 21, stemmed from an argument between the couple.

The victim’s wife, Keaiirra Shavoiyae Chidozie, is facing a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, as indicated by court documents. However, the charge has not been upgraded at this time. Keaiirra is currently out on bond and awaiting her next court appearance scheduled for May 23.

The couple, Michael Chidozie and Keaiirra, shared two children who were present at the time of the shooting. When police arrived at the scene, they found Michael injured but still alive, with his wife and children nearby in the parking lot. A frantic 911 call alerted authorities to the situation.

According to investigators, Keaiirra admitted to shooting her husband out of fear for her safety. Allegedly, during the argument, Michael followed Keaiirra to the bedroom, where she then shot him. Court documents reveal that Michael sustained gunshot wounds to his torso, arm, and chest.

Michael’s friend, Francis Abah, described their relationship as typical of any couple with occasional disagreements but no history of violence. Abah expressed shock and grief over Michael’s death, emphasizing the tragic loss and the pain of not being able to hear Michael’s perspective on the events leading up to the shooting.

Michael, just 26 years old, succumbed to complications at Ben Taub Hospital on April 8, 18 days after the shooting. Abah highlighted Michael’s promising future in natural bodybuilding and the impact of his sudden and untimely death on their community.

In an effort to assist Michael’s family with expenses, his loved ones have launched a GoFundMe campaign to repatriate his body to Nigeria. Abah urged others to seek help and counseling to address relationship issues before they escalate to tragic outcomes like this.
