Drone delivery coming to two North Texas Walmart locations

Prepare to spot drones hovering above North Richland Hills as Walmart and Wing test their latest drone delivery service.

These drones measure a little over four feet in length, boasting a wingspan of nearly five feet and weighing 11.4 lbs. sans package. Capable of reaching speeds of up to 65 miles per hour and flying approximately 150 feet above ground, these drones are designed to operate quietly, emitting noise levels akin to passing cars.

Partnering with Wing, Walmart aims to utilize these drones to deliver a variety of items, ranging from over-the-counter medications to movie-night snacks or dinner ingredients. Residents residing within a four-mile radius of the Walmart Supercenter at 9101 North Tarrant Parkway can expect the service to roll out as early as next week. Additionally, drone delivery will commence from the Walmart Supercenter at 6401 N.E. Loop 820 the following week, with the same four-mile radius requirement for eligible recipients.

This initiative is part of a one-year pilot program approved earlier this year by the North Richland Hills City Council.
