Hyundai hosts free installment of anti-theft software this weekend at Houston’s Greenspoint Mall

Hyundai has responded to a surge in car theft cases involving its vehicles by offering a free safety upgrade to concerned drivers. Vanessa Johnson, who experienced the distress of having her Hyundai stolen, eagerly attended the pop-up event at Greenspoint Mall.

Like Johnson, many customers appreciate the proactive approach by Hyundai to address the issue. Over the past eight months, Houston police have noted a significant increase in thefts of Hyundai and Kia models, prompting concerns among vehicle owners.

The problem gained attention on social media, highlighting vulnerabilities in the vehicles’ security systems. Hyundai acknowledges the issue and emphasizes that developing a software solution takes time. However, they have now launched an upgrade specifically targeting the theft methods seen on platforms like TikTok.

The safety fix is available for free at the pop-up event this weekend, with no ID required. Alternatively, owners can visit any Hyundai dealer for the software upgrade. The process is quick, taking less than 30 minutes, and comes with added security measures like a steering wheel lock.

As vehicle theft rates continue to rise, both manufacturers and drivers are taking steps to enhance security. Hyundai owners are urged to take advantage of the safety upgrade to protect their vehicles from theft.
