Suspect in custody after leading HPD on 9-mile chase that ended in crash near Texas Medical Center

In southwest Houston near the Texas Medical Center, law enforcement officials have detained an individual following a pursuit that concluded in a collision on Friday.

The Houston Police Department reported that officers were present at 10402 Sandpiper Drive around 10:35 a.m. in an attempt to execute a warrant when the suspect fled, prompting a chase.

According to police, the pursuit extended onto Willowbend, South Post Oak, the South Loop, and eventually onto Yellowstone near Old Spanish Trail, covering approximately nine miles from the initial location. It was there that the suspect collided with another vehicle.

The individual, suspected of being armed, was apprehended shortly after the crash, around 11 a.m.
