Plano becomes first city in North Texas to implement all-electric trash truck

Plano has achieved a milestone as the first city in North Texas to introduce an all-electric trash and recycling collection truck. This innovative vehicle, capable of servicing up to 1,100 homes on a single charge, aligns with the city’s environmental objectives by eliminating emissions and cutting operational costs associated with fuel and maintenance.

The cutting-edge electric truck, a 2-axle LET2 (Low Entry Tilt 2) model manufactured by Battle Motors, joins Plano’s fleet of 22 eco-friendly vehicles. Equipped with the Heil Rapid Rail® Automated Side Loader Refuse Collection Vehicle (RCV), it represents a significant advancement in waste management technology.

Plano’s leaders emphasize the city’s dedication to environmental stewardship, citing the introduction of the all-electric trash collection truck as a noteworthy step toward reducing the community’s carbon footprint and fostering sustainable practices. Furthermore, they highlight the city’s commitment to improving residents’ well-being by minimizing noise, air, and ground pollution.
