In a tragic turn of events, a 74-year-old retired teacher, Carol Webber, was found murdered in her apartment at Treemont Senior Living on April 13. Surprisingly, Webber’s own text messages played a crucial role in solving her murder.

The suspect, identified as 66-year-old Clifton John Allen, resided at the same facility and worked at a bookstore there. Court records revealed that Allen had persuaded Webber to transfer her will and power of attorney to him.

Disturbing messages obtained by showcased Webber’s desperate pleas for assistance. She expressed her struggle to end her relationship with Allen, stating, “I am trying to end my relationship with Cliff and he will not bring me my power of attorney, my will, and my insurance. I need prayer for this. Thanks.”

Leading up to her death, Webber confided in others about her concerns regarding Allen’s increasingly aggressive behavior and threats to harm her. Two women, who wished to remain anonymous out of fear, disclosed that they had been providing support and spiritual guidance to Webber.

According to them, Webber was vulnerable and had faced numerous hardships in her life. Feeling isolated and lacking support, she turned to Allen, who took advantage of her situation.

Webber’s anxiety and fear escalated as Allen’s controlling behavior intensified. She reached out to the women hours before her murder, detailing an alarming encounter with Allen.
