Fort Worth voters favoring increase to hotel tax to pay for convention center renovations

Fort Worth voters are showing strong support for Proposition A, which entails a 2% increase in hotel occupancy taxes to fund renovations to the convention center. Early voting results indicate over 70% of voters backing the proposition, aiming to elevate the tax on hotel room stays to 17% within the city.

Although not all precincts have reported, current vote tallies reveal significant support for Proposition A:

If approved, this measure would contribute to the expansion and refurbishment of the convention center. Plans include replacing the existing five-decade-old arena, all without raising property or sales taxes.

Endorsed by Visit Fort Worth, Proposition A addresses the disparity between Fort Worth’s status as the 13th largest city in the nation and its convention center, which currently ranks 47th in available space.
