15-year-old girl killed walking home from school bus in Conroe

CONROE, Texas (KTRK) — A 15-year-old girl was killed as she got off the school bus in Conroe Thursday afternoon.
The deadly crash happened on Browder Traylor at East William Road. According to Texas Department of Public Safety, the teen was walking down Browder Traylor when she was hit.

Neighbors say the girl normally walks in the ditch along the side of the road to avoid cars. Witnesses said the driver who hit the teen swerved into the ditch, and then slammed into a fence.

The driver kept going, but neighbors apparently followed the man, catching up with him at a nearby store. They say he didn’t realize what had happened. That driver, who was later taken into custody, was released after cooperating with DPS during the investigation.
