Fort Bend County man wanted in wife’s death arrested in Louisiana

A man who fled Texas after allegedly killing his wife has been arrested in Louisiana, the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office said.

The St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office SWAT team picked him up Wednesday morning near the city of Breaux Bridge, deputies said in a tweet. Authorities also recovered weapons, the tweet said.

His two children, ages 1 and 3, were also safe. The man left them with a relative whilst fleeing authorities.

The man’s wife was found shot to death during a welfare check around 5:45 p.m. Tuesday at a home in the 19200 block of Mustang Pointe in Richmond.

The man previously called a family member to say he shot his wife, prompting the welfare check.
