Golf cart catches fire inside garage at George Foreman’s Houston-area house

A golf cart caught fire Sunday night inside a garage at boxing legend George Foreman’s house in northeast Harris County, according to the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office.

The fire was mostly contained to the golf cart, and only a small area of the building was burned, fire marshal spokeswoman Rachel Moreno said. The garage contained about 40 cars, most of which only suffered smoke and water damage, she said.

The fire was first reported around 10 p.m. at Foreman’s house in the 29500 block of Martelly Way. No one was seriously injured in the blaze, Moreno said.

“The fire department did a good job of containing the fire only to the garage,” she said.

She said people were home at the time, but she didn’t know whether Foreman was inside.
