NWS: Thunderstorms could hit Houston later this week

The period of hot, muggy weather could finally give way to rain later this week, as meteorologists predict a 50 percent chance of thunderstorms in Houston on Thursday.

Don’t expect any major relief from the heat. Regardless of the precipitation, high temperatures of 88 to 91 degrees are in the forecast through Sunday, according to the National Weather Service forecast

Memorial Day’s mostly sunny weather is expected to continue Tuesday with a slight chance for showers at night. Wednesday brings a 20 percent chance for thunderstorms with a 30 percent chance at night.

The best chance for storms will be Thursday. Lower rain chances could linger through the weekend before the temperatures warm up again, the weather service said.
