Border patrol agent’s associate sentenced to 48 months in prison for drug trafficking scheme

Daniel Hernandez, 46, of Roseville, California, was also ordered to pay back the $5,000 and undergo a year of supervised release, according to a news release.

Hernandez initially pleaded guilty to a bribery charge in February. Plea documents say he and Border Patrol Agent Robert John Hall Jr. provided detailed information about border security to a drug trafficking organization, which federal officials did not specify in the release.

The information included border patrol “sensor locations,” the location of un-patrolled roads near the U.S.-Mexico border and the number of border patrol agents working in a certain area. The men also provided the organization with border patrol radios and keys to unlock border patrol gates.
