Autism support agency in Houston celebrates Autism Acceptance Month with inclusive Field Day event

In Houston, Texas, April marks Autism Acceptance Month, a time dedicated to celebrating neurodiversity and promoting inclusivity.

To conclude this meaningful month, Avondale House organized a familiar event that resonates with many of us – a field day. Avondale House stands as the sole agency in the greater Houston area providing lifelong support for individuals with moderate to severe autism.

Over 60 students and program participants enthusiastically engaged in relay races, basketball, and bowling, all made possible with sponsorship from Talos Energy.

Avondale House CEO Steve Vetrano emphasized the significance of such events, stating, “Field Day exemplifies the types of services we offer. It’s essential to ensure our participants have access to activities that mirror those enjoyed by the broader community. Physical activity and movement hold immense value for everyone, particularly for individuals with moderate to severe autism.”

Eunice Osorio, representing Talos Energy, expressed their alignment with Avondale House’s mission, stating, “Our focus areas are children, health, education, and the environment. When we learned about Avondale House, it perfectly aligned with our values.”

Over a dozen Talos Energy employees eagerly volunteered at Avondale House’s Field Day event, underscoring their commitment to supporting the autism community.
