Woman found shot to death in SE Houston shallow grave struggled with addiction, sister says

In Houston, Texas, Jennifer Ramirez’s family is grappling with the tragic loss of their beloved daughter, sister, and wife, whose life was marred by a relentless battle with addiction.

On Monday afternoon, Houston Police Department officers made a grim discovery behind an apartment complex on Fuqua Street: Ramirez’s body, buried in a shallow grave along the embankment of a detention pond. An autopsy confirmed that she had been shot and killed.

Ramirez’s sister, Tabitha Galvan, described her as not only a sibling but also a cherished friend with whom she shared many memories. Despite Ramirez’s struggles with addiction, which began after the birth of her first child and persisted even after marrying her husband John and expanding their family, Galvan expressed shock and disbelief at the violent nature of her sister’s death.

The family had held onto hope over the years, hoping Ramirez would overcome her addiction and reunite with her loved ones. Despite periods of separation and Ramirez’s stints in jail, they remained steadfast in their love and support for her, clinging to the belief that she would eventually find her way back home.

Now, faced with the devastating reality of Ramirez’s untimely death, the family’s focus has shifted to seeking justice. They are determined to assist the Houston police in identifying and apprehending the perpetrator responsible for Ramirez’s senseless killing and ensuring that she receives the justice she deserves.
