Man fatally shot after breaking into neighbor’s home, Grand Prairie police say

A 43-year-old man was fatally shot Thursday afternoon after breaking into his neighbor’s home, Grand Prairie police say.

Elon Thomas forced his way into the home about 1:30 p.m. in the 2800 block of North Highway 360, police said. As he entered the home, the homeowner got a gun and shot him, police said.

Thomas was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said they believe Thomas and the homeowner were neighbors and the incident did not appear to be random. Police did not release the homeowner’s name.

No arrests have been made, police said. Authorities were investigating the shooting.
