Pasadena man leaves keys locked in car, gets arrested after officers find drugs when trying to help

A 23-year-old Pasadena man is facing felony drug charges after police found drugs in his car while assisting him because he accidentally locked his keys inside.

Austin Shofner was arrested Wednesday and charged with felony drug possession, according to a release from the Montgomery County Constable Office Precinct 3

Shofner was reportedly stranded in the 1800 block of Riley Fuzzel in Spring late Wednesday night after accidentally locking his keys in the trunk of his car, according to the release. After a Montgomery County Constable deputy saw the stranded vehicle and stopped to assist, the deputy observed a Xanax pill in Shofner’s door handle.

Shofner did not have a prescription for the Xanax and was detained. More Xanax, cocaine and THC cartridges were found during a search of the vehicle, according to the release. Shofner was also allegedly driving under the influence and was charged with driving while intoxicated, according to jail records.

He was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on a $3600 bond.
