Erica Monique Polk, 37, faces a murder charge in the death of 65-year-old Ernest Berry.

Officers were called about 8:45 p.m. Dec. 17 to the 3200 block of Hamilton Avenue, near the southern end of Fair Park, where they found Berry dead from a gunshot wound.

According to an arrest-warrant affidavit, Berry was playing dominoes with several people in an empty lot and got into an argument with another person. By the time Polk arrived, the two were fighting.

Police said that Polk became involved in the fight and that one shot was fired.

Polk left the scene but later returned and admitted to shooting Berry, the affidavit says, and officers took her into custody.

Polk, whose last name is listed as Williams in jail records, was booked into the Dallas County jail, and has since posted $100,000 bond. Her attorney could not immediately be reached for comment.
