The county also announced 10 more deaths, including three Dallas residents: a man in his 50s, a woman in her 60s and a woman in her 80s.

Four Mesquite residents also died, including a woman in her 80s and three long-term-care facility residents. It’s unclear whether the three victims in long-term care — two men and a woman in their 90s — lived at the same or different facilities.

The other victims who died were a Grand Prairie man in his 50s, a Rowlett man in his 70s and a Garland woman in her 70s. Of the 10 deaths reported Sunday, all but the two men in their 50s had underlying health problems.

Sunday’s report included data from Friday and Saturday, officials said. Of the cases, 3,697 were confirmed and 154 were probable.

The newly reported cases bring the county’s total to 200,011 — 178,174 confirmed and 21,837 probable. The county’s death toll stands at 1,661.

Health officials use hospitalizations, intensive care admissions and emergency room visits as key metrics to track the real-time impact of COVID-19 in the county. The county will next provide hospitalization data Tuesday.

The county reported that over the last 30 days, 5,971 children and staff members from more than 700 K-12 schools tested positive for COVID-19. In Dallas County, 102 long-term-care facilities were experiencing active coronavirus outbreaks — the highest since the start of the pandemic, officials said.

More than two-thirds of all confirmed cases requiring hospitalization have been in people under 65, and diabetes has been an underlying condition in about a third of all hospitalized patients, according to the county.

Of the county’s total confirmed COVID-19 deaths, about 22% are associated with long-term-care facilities.
