Glamping comes to Grand Prairie’s Loyd Park

Glamping in Grand Prairie is about to become a reality for campers who like nature, but don’t exactly want to be one with it.

According to Kelly Eddlemon, the marketing supervisor at the city’s parks and recreation department, Grand Prairie is installing two luxurious yurts in Loyd Park with the first, called “Elegant Boho,” nearing completion and available for rent soon.

The second will be completed not too long after, Eddlemon said, and will be ADA-accessible.

The yurts, which require a minimum two nights’ stay and hold a maximum of two people, are $250 per night. Pets, however, are not welcome.

Among the amenities, the furnished accommodations include quartz countertops, a cooktop and microwave, kitchenette table, satellite television, queen beds and a private ten-foot deck.

And don’t forget the heating and air conditioning.

“[They] are perfect for couples looking for a higher-end ‘glamping’ experience, all while being surrounded in the natural, tree-filled setting of Loyd Park,” Eddlemon said.

The parks and recreation department is currently running a Valentine’s Day promotion for a free weekend stay.
