Murder suspect arrested after Christmas shooting at West Dallas car wash

The suspect in a fatal Christmas shooting at a West Dallas car wash is now in custody.

Roman Ramirez, 23, was booked into the Dallas County jail on Monday and faces a murder charge in the death of Jose Loera.

Officers were called just after 9 p.m. Dec. 25 to John’s Car Wash in the 4600 of Bernal Drive, where Loera, 23, had been shot inside his vehicle. He died after he was taken to a hospital.

Police said last month that they had identified Ramirez as a suspect.

According to an arrest-warrant affidavit, two witnesses identified Ramirez as the gunman and said he was known to frequent the car wash.

One witness said he saw Ramirez standing near Loera’s vehicle, then heard gunshots and saw Ramirez firing into the vehicle, the affidavit says. The other witness told detectives that Ramirez then got into the passenger side of a vehicle that drove off.

Ramirez remained in jail Tuesday, with bail set at $200,000. He did not have an attorney listed in court records.
