33-year-old man faces murder charge after fatal shooting in Far East Dallas

A 33-year-old man is in custody in connection with a fatal shooting in Far East Dallas last month.

Franklin R. Simmons was arrested Wednesday and faces a murder charge in the slaying of Dionzhe Wiseman.

Police found Wiseman, 25, shot early May 22 at an apartment complex in the 8500 block of La Prada Drive. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.

According to an arrest-warrant affidavit, the shooting was captured on video and a witness identified Simmons as the gunman. Police did not elaborate on a motive for the slaying.

Simmons remained in the Dallas County jail Friday, with bail set at $611,500. He also faces a count of family-violence assault in Dallas County; details about that case were not immediately available.

Tarrant County court records show that an arrest warrant was issued there for Simmons on a charge of family-violence assault after he was accused of attacking a woman in January.
