Man arrested on assault charge after allegedly shooting woman in domestic dispute, police said

Dallas police arrested a man on an assault charge after he allegedly shot a woman with whom he was fighting in South Dallas late Friday.

Around 11:30 p.m. Friday, Dallas police were notified of shooting in the 3800 block of Hamilton Avenue, two blocks from Fitzhugh Avenue and Fair Park. Officers found the 36-year-old victim with a gunshot wound.

The woman was taken to a hospital, police said. Her condition is unknown.

Police idenitifed the suspect as 54-year-old Robert James Ramey. He is in the Dallas County jail, where his bail has not been set.
