Boy in custody in fatal shooting of 17-year-old in north Oak Cliff, Dallas police say

A 16-year-old boy was taken into custody in connection with the fatal shooting of a teen Friday night in north Oak Cliff that police said was accidental.

Dallas police were dispatched about 7:20 p.m. to the 300 block of South Storey Street, near Interstate 35E and Jefferson Boulevard, where they found 17-year-old Chadrick Good in the front passenger seat of an SUV with a gunshot wound due to “an accidental discharge.” The suspect was in a rear passenger seat, police said.

Good was taken to a hospital, where he died.

The suspect, who was not publicly identified, will be charged with manslaughter, police said. The weapon was recovered.

Police didn’t release any other information. They said the investigation was ongoing.
