Two people injured during shootout outside Carrollton hookah bar, police say

Two people were injured, one of them critically, in a shootout early Sunday in the parking lot of a Carrollton hookah bar, police said.

Police were dispatched around 2:30 a.m. to Kings Kafe Hookah Lounge on West Frankfort Road, near Interstate 35E, where two men, ages 19 and 29, had been injured in the shootout. Neither man was identified.

Witnesses said the shooting followed arguing between customers inside the business.

Both men were taken to a hospital. The older one reportedly was in critical condition at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas. The other man, who reportedly was visiting from Louisiana, was released from Carrollton Regional Medical Center after treatment for minor injuries, police said.

Police said several guns and more than 40 shell casings were recovered from the scene.

No arrests had been announced Sunday evening, and no other details were immediately available. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 972-466-3333 or 972-466-9133, or email crimetips@cityofcarrollton.com.
