Former North Texas country radio host Justin Frazell indicted on sexual assault charge

A Tarrant County grand jury has indicted a former North Texas radio host in connection with a reported sexual assault at a holiday party at his home.

Jurors returned the indictment Tuesday against Justin Frazell, 48, of Mansfield for aggravated sexual assault.

A trial is pending, according to a report by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Frazell was arrested in March and freed on a $25,000 bond. On March 29, “The Ranch” KFWR (95.9 FM), where Frazell was a morning-show host for more than a decade, said it had terminated its relationship with him.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, the teenage girl was at Frazell’s Mansfield home for a New Year’s party and was allowed to spend the night after her parents left.

She told police that she was alone in a bedroom when Frazell came in, gave her an alcoholic drink and said, “This is between us. Don’t say I never do anything for you,” the affidavit says.

After she fell asleep, Frazell pulled the blanket off the bed, pulled off some of her clothes and performed sex acts on her, according to the affidavit. He stopped when he heard a child at a nearby bathroom, then told the child he was just checking on the girl, the affidavit says.

About 5 a.m. Jan. 1, the teen was crying and waiting for a relative to pick her up when Frazell came back into the room to comfort her, but she told him to leave her alone. the affidavit says.

A warrant was later issued after investigators interviewed witnesses and received hospital exam results that showed male DNA evidence was collected on the teen.

Frazell, who has a wife and two children, previously was an air-traffic reporter for “The Wolf” KPLX (99.5 FM) but was let go in 2008. He also worked at KLIF (570 AM).
