1 killed after car accident in Fort Worth escalates into a shooting, police say

One person was killed after a minor accident turned into a deadly shooting early Monday, Fort Worth police said.

Authorities responded to a call about an accident at the intersection of the southbound lanes of South University Drive and Interstate 30 at about 2:45 a.m.

Police said when officers arrived they learned that a man had been shot after an argument escalated into a shooting. Police said the argument was prompted by a car accident.

Police told KDFW-TV (Channel 4) that the accident occurred between a Jeep Cherokee and a small sedan.

A woman was driving the sedan with two other women, the station reported. KDFW-TV also reported that at least one other person arrived at the scene to support the women.

The man driving the Jeep was shot and killed, according to KDFW-TV. His identity was not released.

It’s unclear if the suspect is in police custody, but police said they are interviewing everyone who was at the scene.

An investigation is ongoing.
