Dallas police are investigating a homicide after finding a man fatally shot Wednesday in an east Oak Cliff home.

Officers were called about noon to a home in the 1400 block of Peru Street for a welfare check. When they arrived, they found Walter Smith Jr., 50, fatally shot inside.

No additional details were immediately released on what led up to the shooting, and police have not publicly identified a suspect.
