Man shot, killed by driver who allegedly saw him fight with his girlfriend in SW Houston, HPD says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A man was killed in a drive-by shooting while walking with his girlfriend in southwest Houston overnight, according to police.

Houston police responded to a shooting call at 15815 Boonridge Road near Beechaven Drive at 12:10 a.m. Wednesday.

Investigators said the couple was walking just around the corner from where the man lives when he was shot.

Eyewitness News spoke with the victim’s family, who identified him as said 30-year-old Tracy Richardson.

Richardson’s family says he was living at his mother’s house with his 11-year-old daughter.

They said he was going for a walk with his girlfriend of a few months when they were arguing.

ABC13 spoke with a witness who said she saw Richardson and his girlfriend in a physical fight. The witness says she called the police to report the fight when a gray vehicle pulled up, asking if the couple was fighting.

The witness, who wishes to remain anonymous, said the gray vehicle circled around a few times and pulled over when the couple continued to fight.

A Houston Police Department investigator confirmed with Eyewitness News that Richardson was assaulting his girlfriend, saying she was severely beaten by him. Authorities haven’t confirmed a motive for the shooting.

The witness said she called the police again to report when shots were fired.

Police say Richardson’s girlfriend stayed at the scene and spoke to investigators.

HPD said surveillance video shows a vehicle stopping as multiple shots were fired. Although the footage is grainy, investigators believe the vehicle is a gray Chevrolet Impala or similar model.

Houston police released surveillance photos of a suspect vehicle wanted after a man was killed during a drive-by shooting at 15815 Boondridge Road on July 26.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or speak anonymously with Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
