Frigid temperatures persist Tuesday in Dallas-Fort Worth with weather advisories in place

The winter weather continued to linger in Dallas-Fort Worth on Tuesday, but the forecast includes a chance for warmer weather soon.

Two cold fronts that rolled through North Texas late last week left the region feeling the effects into Tuesday as sub-freezing temperatures and icy roads caused schools to closeERCOT to call for energy use conservation, and garbage pickup to be delayed.

The maximum temperature Monday set another daily record for the second day in a row, according to the weather service.

The maximum temperature was 26 degrees at DFW Airport, making it the lowest maximum temperature ever recorded for Jan. 15. The old record was 31 degrees set in 1917, historical data shows.

The agency’s weather watch is in place through Wednesday.
