A driver died following a collision with a TxDOT trailer on I-610 East Loop, according to HPD

In east Houston on Friday night, a driver died in a multi-vehicle collision involving a trailer, as per the Houston Police Department.

The incident occurred around 11:39 p.m. at the 610 East Loop and Lawndale Street.

Police stated that the crash involved two vehicles and a trailer.

According to authorities, the driver lost control at the curve and struck an HPD officer who was engaged in traffic control for the Texas Department of Transportation. Fortunately, the officer sustained no injuries. The driver then collided with the trailer of a TxDOT vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.
