Hundreds of firefighters rushed to extinguish flames at Marriott Westchase hotel fire, HFD says

In response to a call received at approximately 10:04 p.m., the Houston Fire Department mobilized hundreds of firefighters to combat a significant fire at the Marriott Westchase hotel in the 2900 block of Briarpark Drive on Wednesday night.

Fire crews arrived within six minutes of the call and encountered heavy fire and smoke emanating from the north side of the hotel, enveloping floors seven through 10.

Approximately 39 crews and 140 firefighters were deployed to the scene, successfully evacuating all occupants from the hotel.

Authorities noted that the evacuation process took about an hour due to the need for assistance for some residents. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries resulting from the fire.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway.
