Altercation ends in deadly shooting in Fort Worth’s W. 7th entertainment district

Fort Worth detectives are on the lookout for a suspect following a fatal shooting that stemmed from an altercation between two individuals in the bustling West 7th Entertainment District late Saturday night.

Despite the serene atmosphere of a Sunday brunch, the previous night’s events unfolded drastically different for Fort Worth Police in the West 7th Entertainment District. Responding to reports of a shooting around 10:15 p.m. in the 2900 block of Crockett Street, officers discovered a troubling scene.

According to investigators, 29-year-old Bryson Rodgers of Fort Worth engaged in a dispute with another man, during which the suspect drew a firearm and fatally shot Rodgers multiple times before fleeing.

Fort Worth Police and medical personnel made efforts to save Rodgers’ life, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries.

While many patrons enjoyed a tranquil patio lunch, unaware of the previous night’s turmoil, Andy Silos expressed surprise at the news, noting a shift in the atmosphere of Fort Worth.

Silos, a frequent visitor to West 7th, shared that he now prefers the district during the daytime, echoing sentiments of safety concerns expressed by Angel Estrada, who emphasized an increased sense of uncertainty about nighttime safety in one of the city’s renowned areas for nightlife.

Estrada’s apprehensions reflect a broader sentiment, considering Fort Worth Police Department’s proactive approach since September, aiming to address potential threats before they escalate, following the tragic murder of a TCU student near West 7th.

As Fort Worth homicide detectives continued their investigation on Crockett Street, they had yet to announce any arrests related to Saturday’s fatal shooting, leaving the community on edge and seeking answers.
