Maps tell the story of how Texans voted for president, senator on Super Tuesday

Following Super Tuesday, Texans have cast their votes in the primary elections, determining their choices for president and senator. The maps provided illustrate the voting patterns among Texans participating in both the Republican and Democratic primaries.

In Texas, voters have the option to select either party’s primary but are restricted to voting in only one primary per election cycle. Additionally, participating in a party’s primary does not automatically register an individual with that political party.

For the U.S. President race, the primary results indicate a rematch of the 2020 general election, with incumbent President Joe Biden poised to face former President Donald Trump in November. In the Republican primary, Donald Trump received overwhelming support, securing 78% of the vote, while his main opponent, Nikki Haley, garnered 17% of the votes.

On the Democratic side, President Joe Biden captured 85% of the votes, with other Democratic challengers each receiving less than 4% of the vote.

Turning to the U.S. Senate race, U.S. Rep. Colin Allred emerged victorious in the Democratic Senate primary and will face GOP Sen. Ted Cruz in the upcoming November elections. Cruz, seeking his third six-year term, dominated the Republican primary with nearly 90% of the vote.

In the Democratic primary for the Senate race, voters primarily chose between U.S. Rep. Colin Allred and State Sen. Roland Gutierrez. Allred secured a clear victory, earning nearly 60% of the votes cast.

The maps provided offer insights into the voting trends and preferences among Texans in each primary election.
