City of Grapevine, businesses prepare for April 8 total solar eclipse crowds

Weinberger’s Deli, located on Historic Main Street Grapevine, is typically bustling with activity, but owner Dan Weinberger anticipates that the total solar eclipse on April 8 will bring a different kind of excitement.

“We’re gearing up for the crowds to descend on Main Street, and we couldn’t be more thrilled,” Weinberger remarked.

Preparations are underway to accommodate the influx of visitors expected that day and throughout the weekend.

“We’re expecting people to start arriving on Friday and staying until Wednesday, so we’ve got extra staff on hand,” Weinberger explained.

Numerous other businesses and restaurants along Main Street are planning their own eclipse-themed food and festivities.

Visit Grapevine’s Director of Communications, Elizabeth Schrack, anticipates a significant turnout for the event.

“We’re seeing a lot of bus groups coming in from California, Florida, New York, and even Switzerland,” Schrack noted.

With the solar eclipse just a month away, ticket sales for various events are rapidly increasing. One such event is a ticketed party on Peace Plaza for 300 people, featuring music and other festivities.

In terms of public safety, Grapevine Police have announced plans to deploy extra officers strategically throughout the city before, during, and after the eclipse to ensure swift assistance if needed.

As a city well-versed in hosting large festivals, Grapevine assures that it’s well-prepared for the April 8 event.

“Grapevine knows how to throw a party,” Schrack affirmed. “We’re accustomed to hosting big events with large crowds, so we’ll be ready.”
