Man accused of chasing down and fatally shooting alleged car thief in NE Harris Co., deputies say

According to officials, murder charges have been filed against a man accused of fatally shooting a suspect who allegedly stole his vehicle in northeast Harris County.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a car accident on Golden Eagle Drive around 4 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered a man shot to death in the driver’s seat of a black sedan that had collided with another car.

Initially, the HCSO believed the incident stemmed from a road rage altercation. However, further investigation revealed that the wrecked sedan had been reported stolen from a nearby apartment complex.

Investigators later learned that the owner of the stolen sedan had pursued the driver in another vehicle in an attempt to stop him. Allegedly, the owner opened fire on the driver multiple times, resulting in the crash and subsequent fatality.

Additionally, authorities noted that another individual with a backpack was observed fleeing from the scene. It is suspected that this individual was a passenger in the black sedan during the shooting. However, they have not yet been located.
