Cowboys QB Dak Prescott files lawsuit against woman who accused him of sexual assault

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has initiated a civil lawsuit against a woman from Fort Worth, alleging that she fabricated a false sexual assault accusation against him as part of an extortion attempt seeking $100 million.

Prescott’s legal representatives filed the lawsuit in Collin County on Monday, asserting that the quarterback was a victim of an extortion scheme and vehemently denies any occurrence of sexual assault.

Levi G. McCathern, Prescott’s attorney, emphasized that Prescott, a new father, empathizes with sexual assault survivors and believes in holding perpetrators accountable. McCathern stated that Prescott has never engaged in nonconsensual sexual conduct with anyone.

According to McCathern, the accuser and her legal team threatened to publicly disclose a fabricated sexual assault story from nearly a decade ago unless Prescott paid $100 million to avoid false charges with law enforcement.

Prescott has reported the defendants’ alleged criminal actions to the appropriate authorities and intends to cooperate fully with their investigation.

In the lawsuit, Prescott seeks $1 million in relief and pledges to donate any recovered funds to the Joyful Heart Foundation, an organization supporting sexual assault survivors.

The defendant’s attorney, Bethel Zehaie, countered the allegations, asserting that the alleged sexual assault occurred in 2017 outside XTC Cabaret in Dallas. Zehaie claimed that the defendant did not work at the club and did not report the incident to the police at the time.

Zehaie issued a statement rebuffing Prescott’s claims, calling him a liar and a rapist. She alleged that Prescott confirmed being with the defendant on the night of the assault. Zehaie maintained that the truth is on their side and criticized Prescott’s legal team for victim-blaming.

Prescott’s lawsuit details an incident described in a letter from the defendant’s legal team, alleging sexual assault during an encounter in Plano in February 2017 after Prescott’s rookie season. The defendant’s team demanded $100 million in damages to refrain from pursuing criminal charges or public disclosure of the incident.

The woman’s legal team indicated that she intends to file her own criminal complaint. The Dallas Cowboys organization has not issued any statements regarding the lawsuit.
