3-year-old among 3 shot at NW Harris Co. apartment complex, HCSO says

Harris County deputies are investigating a shooting incident involving a 3-year-old girl and a woman at an apartment complex in northwest Harris County. The authorities are also trying to determine the connection to a wounded man found separately nearby.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez stated that his office received a call at 2:50 p.m. on Wednesday regarding an incident at the Point Northwest Apartments on 8750 Point Park, near U.S. 290 and Highway 6 in the Copperfield area.

According to Gonzalez, an altercation between two groups resulted in the shooting of the child and the woman. Both victims were swiftly transported to a nearby hospital, where they are receiving treatment and are reported to be in fair condition. The child sustained a gunshot wound to the arm, while the woman was shot in the hand.

Additionally, a man was discovered with gunshot wounds at a different location, and he was also taken to the hospital in fair condition. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating whether there is any connection between this separate incident and the initial shooting.

Sheriff Gonzalez stated that their team is actively investigating various locations to gather more information and piece together the events leading to the shooting.

Subsequently, the sheriff’s office provided further details suggesting that drug evidence and a significant amount of cash found at the scene imply a possible drug-related altercation. Deputies also suspect the involvement of two suspects in the incident.
